A Family Legacy Since 1982
It all started with a simple cabin on the shore of Lake of the Woods. My grandfather, William Thompson, was a fishing guide who believed that the best way to share the magic of Northwestern Ontario was to welcome people into his home and show them the waters he loved.
What began as a one-man guiding operation has grown into Ontario Hunting & Fishing — a family-run outfitter that has welcomed thousands of guests from across North America and around the world. But some things haven't changed: our commitment to exceptional service, our deep knowledge of these lands and waters, and the feeling that every guest is part of our extended family.
Today, the third generation of the Thompson family runs the operation. We've modernized the cabins and equipment while preserving the traditions that make this place special. When you stay with us, you're not just booking a trip — you're becoming part of a story that spans four decades.

Our Values
Conservation First
We practice and promote ethical fishing and fair-chase hunting. Our waters are catch-and-release for trophy species, and we work with Ontario's Ministry of Natural Resources on habitat conservation.
Local Knowledge
Our guides were born and raised here. They know every reef, trail, and wildlife pattern. This isn't just a job — it's our home, and we love sharing it.

Mike Thompson
Owner & Head Guide
Third-generation outfitter with 25+ years of guiding experience. Certified Canadian sailing master and Ontario master hunting guide.
Dave Morrison
Senior Fishing Guide
Former tournament angler turned guide. Specializes in trophy walleye and muskie. Dave has fished Lake of the Woods for over 30 years and knows every honey hole.
Tom Sinclair
Head Hunting Guide
Professional hunting guide with extensive knowledge of whitetail deer and black bear behavior. Tom manages our hunting territories and has guided over 500 successful hunts.
